New Hope Hospice was incorporated in January 1994 as a free standing, nonprofit hospice offering comprehensive hospice care for the terminally ill in the Eastern Maine area.  The hospice program provides care primarily in the individual's home or place of residence.  Plans are underway for a six bed hospice residence to be located in East Eddington.

New Hope Hospice utilizes the skills of a team of professionals and specially trained

volunteers to meet the needs of patients and their families.

The interdisciplinary team includes:

Other services include dietary guidance as well as

Physical, Speech, Respiratory & Massage Therapies contracted and utilized as needed.

Emphasis is given to physical comfort by a nursing staff with expertise in pain and symptom management.  A registered nurse is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Emotional and spiritual support is provided by all hospice team members.  In addition to professional staff, a team of two to three volunteers is available to each patient/family as requested.  Family members are followed in bereavement for a period of 13 months.  A bereavement support group is a available to those family members needing it.
