About Us

Our Hospice Services

New Hope Hospice provides comfort, care and support when you need it most. Our organization was incorporated in January of 1994 as a free-standing, not-for-profit hospice center offering comprehensive care for the terminally ill in the Eastern Maine area. The hospice program provides care primarily in the individual’s home or place of residence, however we also care for patients at our facilities in Eddington, ME.

We believe our philosophy utilizes the skills of our staff and volunteers in a meaningful way. Emphasis is given to physical comfort by a nursing staff with expertise in pain and symptom management, a registered nurse is on call 24/7 and we offer emotional and spiritual support to those we’re caring for and their families. In addition to our staff, we also have a volunteer program where a team of two to three volunteers are available to each patient and family as requested. We continue to be in contact with family members for a period of 13 months and offer a bereavement support group that is available to those family members needing it.

Admission & Costs

Reimbursement for hospice care may come from a variety of sources including private health insurance, through Medicare & Medicaid as well as  through MaineCare. A physician’s referral with the agreement of the patient and family is necessary, assuming a limited life-expectancy of six months or less should the disease follow its normal course. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns regarding our services, reimbursement plans, or to make a referral. We can make arrangements for an informational meeting and decide what services would be most appropriate.
